Success! Message received.

I am excited to be a candidate for Los Alamos County Clerk. I have lived in New Mexico all of my life and moved to this superb community 14 years ago when my husband, Sammy, accepted a job offer from Los Alamos County. We have three wonderful children; Andres, Serenity, and Isaiah. We love and appreciate all that Los Alamos has to offer and the opportunities it has provided for our family. Exceptional schools, outstanding peers, overall great community! For that reason, I want to continue to give back and in what better way than in the capacity that I am most familiar with.

I have worked for the Los Alamos County Clerk's Office for ~10 years and I know first-hand what the job of the County Clerk entails, I have a heart and passion for all areas that encompass the office and serving the community in every aspect. Although, I have to admit it's the election process that I am most passionate about!

While that is true, I also realize the importance of adhering not only to election laws; but state, federal, and county laws that govern the office. All of which, I am extensively familiar with, as well as with other responsibilities involved with recording public records, probate court, council support, marriage licenses and the other diverse duties the office embraces on a daily basis.

During my time with the Los Alamos County Clerk's Office, I have earned a New Mexico Certified County Public Official certification from NMSU/NM EDGE (Education Designed to Generate Excellence in the Public Sector). I am currently on the path to receive a certification as an NM Certified County Clerk and an NM Certified Public Supervisor. I have also received certificates as a Better Informed Public Official and Local Government Leadership Program from the New Mexico Association of Counties (NMAC), as well as a certification for Leadership New Mexico from the New Mexico Municipal League (NMML). I am also currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management.

Prior to working for the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office, I worked as an office manager for a construction company, as a real estate processor for Zia Credit Union, and as an office specialist for a contractor of the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Recently, I had the pleasure to work as the Business Services Specialist for the Los Alamos Public School system.

While I am grateful for those experiences, my heart and passion have always been with the Clerk’s Office.

I am proud of the progression we have made during my tenure with the office. We have commemorated advances in revolutionizing elections with Vote Centers, which streamlines elections and saves counties money. Pioneered the modernization of recording; we were the first county in the state to electronically record documents. We are also one of the only clerk’s offices in the state to provide government documents accessible on-line.  Integration of new online tools - ex. FraudSleuth (an online fraud prevention tool) and online marriage applications.

In 2011 the complex duties and responsibilities of the clerk were recognized by the Charter Review Committee (CRC). In their final report to Council, the CRC recommended that the position of the clerk be made into a full-time position. I am committed to bring my ambition, knowledge, and experience to this position on a full-time basis. Above all, I believe in democracy and fairness. I also strongly believe experience matters; it is indispensable, that is why I feel I am the best candidate for this position. Experienced leadership is needed to ensure the election process continues to be protected and continues to run effectively. I am excited for this opportunity, I thank you, the great community of Los Alamos, for your support and for your valuable time in considering me to be your next Los Alamos County Clerk.
